Hand-enamelled copper, fired seven times
$168
$198
A low bowl for incense cones, keys or nothing at all. The body is hand-hammered copper; fine brass wire is bent into a scrolling vine, filled with vitreous enamel by hand, then fired seven times. The Jingtai blue ground shifts between deep green and ink depending on the light. The interior is matte so ash does not cling. Each bowl is signed on the base by the workshop.

Provenance
Made by a third-generation family workshop on the eastern edge of Beijing. The enamel is applied with a fine bamboo tool, a technique the maker learned from his father and still teaches to two apprentices. Small bubbles and tonal shifts in the enamel are not faults; they are the record of the firing.
